You have made a good choice by deciding you want to get your RN to BSN degree. You will be able to make more money once you graduate because you will have more jobs to choose among. You will be considered more knowledgeable once you get the training that's associated with the degree because it takes a lot of effort on the part of the student in order to finish their degree. You will find yourself asking yourself which program is right for you-- a traditional college or an online college? There are clear advantages to getting your BSN online and there are clear advantages to getting your BSN at a traditional college. The online program is nice, but definitely isn't for everyone. You need to ask yourself the following questions to see which program is right for you.
Can you be independent enough as a college student to keep up with the work of an online degree? When you take an online BSN class, you have to be able to motivate yourself to do the work even there is no live professor encouraging you to keep going. While going to college online, you have to be able to have the time in your busy schedule to do the work because there are deadlines for online classes too. If you find it hard to go to traditional classes, you won't the the work on the computer any easier because either way it's a lot of work.
Do you know how to use modern technology? In order to be successful at the online program, you don't necessarily need a lot of social interaction. However, you do need to know how to e-mail or chat to your professor and classmates when you need the help. The online program is a good option for people who enjoy working by themselves, but they should be able to reach out for help when needed. If you know the computer, then it's idea to get your nursing degree online.
How do you know if your learn style works for going to school online? The answer to this question depends on how you learn-- it could be through reading or it could be through listening and seeing. If the former is true than you will probably find that online college is best for you. If the latter is true then you will probably find that traditional college is right for you.
